From Pain to Power: How Cassandra Engelman Turned Full-Body Trauma into a Sustainable Holistic Practice

Written by Rachel Stewart, Content Director and Co-Founder

Cassandra is a holistic lifestyle coach, piano teacher, and mother of three who transformed her own healing journey into a four-level coaching practice dedicated to helping other women thrive. Through the Luxe Method, she teaches busy women how to rebuild their health from the inside out, addressing not just physical wellness, but mental, emotional, and energetic balance, too.

This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

Before we talk about your work, I’d love to know: who is Cassandra outside of the coaching world?

Outside of the coaching world, I’m a mom of three under three, which means life is full, fast and requires intentional living. I’ve studied piano for nearly 20 years and have been teaching since 2019. Music has always been central to who I am. While my training is classical, metal music is where my heart lives – it is disciplined, expressive, and unapologetically powerful.

To me, music and wellness are deeply connected. Both require consistency, structure, self-expression and presence. Musical performance only works when the foundation is made solid through consistent practice. Likewise, when healthy habits are practiced consistently, they move onto autopilot; movement keeps the body capable and strong, rest becomes strategic, and the nervous system becomes regulated so you can show up at your highest level. And over time, this creates sustainable change.

Tell me about our holistic approach to wellness. What’s the origin of the Luxe Method?

My holistic approach to wellness was born from lived experience.

I’ve experienced two major transformations that shaped my methods. The first dates back to my teenage years, after sustaining repetitive concussions starting at age 13. Like many teenagers, I felt invincible, until one morning I woke up with a pain that never left. Not a soreness, but a deep, full-body pain. The symptoms escalated into chronic muscle tension, debilitation pressure in my skull, and post-concussion effects that made the most basic of daily tasks overwhelming.

Because I was young, my symptoms weren’t taken seriously. The focus was on masking the pain rather than understanding the root cause. That realization changed everything: I knew I had to understand my body myself.

That search led me into holistic living. I became an herbalist and began studying the body’s vital force, learning how deeply connected the nervous system, gut, brain, and inflammation truly are. I explored complimentary practices like acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, physiotherapy, and energy-based practices. For me, one truth became clear: restoration and renewal only happened when the whole system was addressed.

Over time, this evolved into the Luxe Method, my four-pillar framework: emotional, mental, physical, and energetic. When one pillar is ignored, the body compensates. When all four are aligned and supported, the system begins to regulate itself.

My second transformation came through motherhood. Having three children in under three years, all via C-section, came with the physical demands, hormonal shifts, nervous system load, and postpartum recalibration. It was intense, but the same pillars carried me through it by rebuilding strength, balancing my hormones and returning my natural body to baseline in a sustainable way.

That’s when I knew the Luxe Method wasn’t just effective, it was liveable. It integrates into real life, works under pressure, and allows women not to just rebuild, but operate at their highest level long-term.

It sounds like you had your own learning to do in each pillar, like you explored each of them for yourself first.

Exactly. And it takes time, which is something people feel they don’t have. Everyone comes from different experiences and life stages, but the four pillars remain consistent. Each one needs to be supported for your system to function at its best.

Holistic lifestyle coaching integrates all aspects of life, from your daily habits, to your mindset, relationships, identity and more. When these areas are aligned, you move through life with intention, confidence, balance and strength, rather than being stuck in reactive patterns and operating in survival mode.

How did you develop the Luxe Method?

The Luxe Method came from taking everything I learned, and streamlining it into something intentional and liveable. I didn’t want other women spending years piecing things together the way I had to. That’s where my 15 Minute Mastery Method was born. It’s designed for women with full lives and who want results. By focusing on short, high-impact practices across all four pillars, change becomes sustainable and integrated into daily life. The goal isn’t to add more to your plate, but to help you operate with confidence and intentional momentum while still moving through your day.

On your website, you talk about “rebuilding internal architecture.” What does this mean in practice?

In practice, rebuilding internal architecture means returning to the foundation. We focus on removing the limitations and blockages that keep the body and mind operating below the baseline. Here, foundational habits matter because your body and mind systems are interconnected. For example, the gut influences emotional, mental, physical and energetic health, shaping how you think, feel and function. Rebuilding your baseline is what creates sustainable change.

Within the Luxe Method, we address the mental and emotional layers first. Experiences create patterns in thought, behaviour, and in the nervous system. When those patterns are rewired, habits begin to shift, and women begin to realize how much they were compensating for past trauma, and how capable and powerful they’ve always been.

What do you think gets in the way of someone facing their trauma?

Uncertainty. Discomfort. Being ready isn’t a feeling – it’s a decision. Growth requires stepping into the unknown, even when change is positive and uncomfortable.

Living with trauma often means operating in states of overwhelm, guilt, or inconsistency. These patterns keep people reactive rather than intentional. But with conscious integration, these cycles can be rewired. Self-doubt fades, mental loops dissolve, and decisions come from clarity rather than reaction and conditioning.

When the four pillars are supported, wellness no longer requires constant effort. It moves onto autopilot. And that’s when people begin operating from who they truly are, not what they’ve been through.

Looking ahead to your upcoming contributions to the ROSE newsletter, what’s something you hope to explore with readers?

I hope to reach other women that have always known they are meant for more… for women ready to operate at their highest level, building that for themselves sustainable and intentionally, because success starts from within.

In a world that often asks women to push through pain rather than heal from it, Cassandra’s story offers a different path: one where listening to your body becomes the foundation for lasting transformation. Her message is clear: wellness isn’t about perfection or having hours of free time – it’s about building sustainable habits that honour your body, mind, and spirit, fifteen minutes at a time.
